In 2023, the International Journal of Cardiovascular Science (IJCS) published a special collection focusing on cardiometabolic diseases.
The term cardiometabolic risk describes the chances that a person has of damaging the cardiovascular system when one or more risk factors appear together. These factors include obesity, dyslipidemia, hypertension, and insulin resistance — also known as metabolic syndrome. In addition, sedentary lifestyle, the presence of diabetes mellitus, hepatic steatosis (nonalcoholic steatohepatitis), ectopic fat and inflammation greatly contribute to the interaction and emergence of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.
Numerous pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions have been developed to control and improve clinical outcomes, and all these aspects involve cardiometabolic diseases. In order to reduce this knowledge gap, IJCS launches this call for articles for this special issue entirely dedicated to cardiometabolism.
We hope you enjoy this special collection!
