Introduction
Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS), a chronic, progressive disease, with high mortality and morbidity, which has been associated with cardiovascular diseases, including heart failure (HF).
The pathophysiological changes related to OSAS and its contribution to cardiovascular risk are consequences of increased sympathetic activity, increased oxidative stress, pro-inflammatory changes and endothelial dysfunction.
