Rules and Regulations

 

Aiming to encourage the submission of Original Articles on major cardiovascular topics to the journals Arquivos Brasileiros de Cardiologia (ABC Cardiol), International Journal of Cardiovascular Sciences (IJCS), Arquivos Brasileiros Imagem Cardiovascular (ABC Imagem), and ABC Heart Failure & Cardiomyopathy (ABC HF), for the development of technical-scientific work, the Brazilian Society of Cardiology establishes the SBC Scientific Publication Award.

 

1. The Award will correspond to articles published in 2024.

 

2. The Award will be given to the national authors of the best Original Article published in the journals ABC Cardiol, IJCS, ABC Imagem, and ABC HF in 2024. There will be an award for the most cited national manuscript in the last two years, namely: the most cited article published in 2022 and 2023 in 2024, for the journals ABC Cardiol and IJCS; and the most accessed in 2024 for the journals ABC Imagem and ABC HF.

 

2.1. Awards granted to the first author:

a) Plaque for each awarded article.

b) Registration for the next congress.

c) Credit of R$ 2,000.00 for enrollment in courses at the Heart University. Except for postgraduate courses.

d) SBC Club product kit.

 

3. Judging

 

3.1. In judging the Original Articles, the editors will analyze the following items:

a) Relevance and originality;

b) Clarity and pertinence of the objectives; coherence with the methodology;

c) Research design appropriate to the objectives;

d) Adequate description of methods/procedures and statistical analysis to the design. Clear description of the population and sample size. Definition of the variables under study, especially intervention or exposure and outcome;

e) Importance for the advancement of knowledge. Potential applicability and impact of the results.

 

4. No registration will be required to participate in the award.

 

5. No appeal will be allowed against the editors’ decisions.

 

6. The announcement of the winners will be made through the journals’ websites, on a date to be defined.

 

7. The awards will be announced at the “SBC Scientific Publication Award” ceremony, to be held at the 80th Brazilian Congress of Cardiology.

 

8. The SBC Scientific Publication Award will also honor the most active reviewer of the journals ABC Cardiol, IJCS, ABC Imagem, and ABC HF in 2024. The corresponding recognition will entitle the honoree to a plaque.

 

9. The editors are responsible for deciding on omitted cases in this regulation.
