SBC Scientific Publication Award – 2023

Rules and Regulations
To encourage the submission of Original Articles on the most relevant cardiovascular issues to the journals Arquivos Brasileiros de Cardiologia (ABC Cardiol), International Journal of Cardiovascular Sciences (IJCS), Arquivos Brasileiros Imagem Cardiovascular (ABC Imagem) and ABC Heart Failure (ABC HF) for the development of technical and scientific papers, the Brazilian Society of Cardiology creates the SBC Scientific Publication Award.
1. The Award will refer to articles published in 2021 and 2022.
2. The Award will be given to the Brazilian authors of the best Original Article published in the ABC Cardiol and IJCS journals for the years 2021 and 2022, and to Brazilian authors of the best Original Article published in the ABC Imagem and ABC HF journals in 2022. There will be an award for the most cited national manuscript in 2022, considering the articles published in 2020 and 2021, for ABC Cardiol and IJCS journals; and the most accessed in 2022 for the ABC Imagem and ABC HF journals.
2.1. Prizes awarded to the first author:
a) Plaque for each awarded article.
b) Registration for the next upcoming congress.
c) Credit of R$ 2,000.00 for registration in courses at the Heart University. Except for postgraduate courses.
d) SBC Clube products kit.
3. Judgement
3.1. To judge the Original Articles, the editors will consider the following items:
a) Relevance and originality;
b) Clarity and relevance of objectives; consistency with the methodology;
c) Research design appropriate to the objectives;
d) Description of the methods/procedures and statistical analysis appropriate to the design. A clear description of the population and sample size. Definition of the study variables, mainly intervention or exposure and outcome;
e) Importance for furthering knowledge. Potential of applicability and impact of the findings.
4. The authors are not required to register to participate in the award.
5. The decisions issued by the editors are unappealable.
6. The announcement of the winners will be made through the journals’ websites on a date to be determined.
7. The awards will be given in a ceremony of the “SBC Scientific Publication Award” at the 78th Brazilian Conference of Cardiology.
8. The SBC Scientific Publication Award will also honor the most active reviewer of the ABC Cardiol and IJCS journals during the period of 2021 and 2022. The corresponding recognition will be presented in the form of a plaque to the honorees.
9. The editors will decide on any other cases not covered by these Rules and Regulations.
